After failing to impress many in recent seasons, Theo Walcott seems to finally come of age this season. The England winger has scored some crucial goals and provided some crucial assists. He has been one of the chief architects responsible for the revival of Arsenal from their poor start to the season.

Now, Arsenal are in a position where they can comfortably finish in the top four – provided they maintain their current form. Theo Walcott has admitted that Arsenal did struggle initially after losing both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri in the transfer window.

However, looking back now, the England winger said that the loss of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas has proved to be beneficial for the club in many ways because it has allowed them to unearth new talent within the club. Arsenal lost their two influential midfielders at the start of the season and it was rightly reflected in the opening few matches. The biggest embarrassment for Arsenal came in the form of the 8-2 hammering at the hands of Manchester United earlier in the season. Many predicted that Arsenal would sink down the table pretty quickly, but Theo Walcott and others have been able to prove that it is not the case.

“I’m not saying that Cesc and Samir were individual players, they were great team players, but when you lose two top players everyone needs to come together. The manager has brought in some good additions and we are a bit more of a team, we work harder when we haven’t got the ball,” Theo Walcott said when asked about the loss of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri. Even more important for the team has been the few good signings Arsenal made on the deadline day of the biggest transfer window according to Theo Walcott
